WIPs

Today's works in progress make me feel a wee bit more confident in my ability to make a serious dent in my January to do list.

Both of these are mystery socks (mocks), where one clue (or part of the pattern) is released each week. Everyone participating in the knit alongs for these is doing so sight unseen, but to me that's part of the fun. Yes, a few times I have not liked a mock pattern, but can always just stop and frog a project if I feel it's heading in a direction I don't want to go.

First up is TGIS (Thank God It's Sock day) by RoseHiver, designed for Barking Dog Yarns.

And second is Bláthnat by Irishgirlieknits, designed for Sock Knitters Anonymous.

I am LOVING both of these, and am eagerly anticipating the next clues. I can already tell that I'm going to be thrilled with these.

January 2012 to do list

I spoke about this, but needed to write down my plans for the month's knitting. Let's see how many of these I can get through!
In no particular order, here are the projects I have planned for the month:

1) one single sock of the Barking Dog Yarns mystery (TGIS) by RoseHiver using BDY Achilles in Serendipity - New Orleans

2) the Sock Knitters Anonymous mystery sock (Bláthnat by Irishgirlieknits using Louet Gems fingering weight in light grey (to double dip with the Solid Socks group challenge of the month)

3) finish my Broken Seed Stitch socks

4) knit a hat out of my Manos (and participate in the Twisted Strands Podcast KAL)

5) design fingerless gloves based on LauraJ’s BDY February 2011 KAL socks

6) knit at least 10 ornaments

7) work on my mumi’s fingerless gloves

8) make progress on my Seascape (due in March)

9) make progress on my Annis for Mumi

10) write up my fingerless glove designs (Tactile, Blinded, Kate’s Kables, Honey Mitts), which means knitting them all again

I'm almost finished with the Broken Seed Stitch socks, so that's pretty much dealt with. One almost down!

What are your plans for the month? Are you as insane as I appear to be?

How to use fixed ring stitch markers

This was my first (and so far, only in-focus) tutorial, explaining how to use stitch markers.

Episode 1.5: 2011 Redux

Sadly, this makes it obvious that my webcam is no good for this. The background noise is deafening!

Episode 1: Pilot Project

No shownotes this time.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new home of Moonie Knits!
I have dabbled with blogging in the past, but never really stuck with it. Knitting is my passion, and I do want to share it with the world, but since it is such a visual activity I haven't felt comfortable enough with the printed word. Inserted photos can only do so much!
For years and years I have been an avid podcast listener, but never thought to use it as a platform for my knitting. Lately, though, my eyes were opened to video podcasts, which are just perfect!
So bear with me as I test the waters. The next few days will bring many a change to the look and feel of this page, and soon (very soon, if Blip is cooperative) my video premiere will be on its way to you.
I look forward to this journey, and to meeting new and wonderful folk along the way.
